READ ON OR GO STRAIGHT TO THE >REVIEW OF THIS HAUNT<

We were then led thru the maze that will be the Asylum, one of the three adventures awaiting you at Fright Factory. The premise? An old abandoned asylum is discovered, and worse yet, there are still patients roaming the halls. As he walked, he showed us the various scare tactics and called on the radio, “I’m walking a few people thru, why don’t you grab a few spots.” This is where we met some of the crew, and they really love their jobs (hi Tim!).
The plan is to usher groups thru 6 at a time, leaving other options if the crowd gets too big. (And we hope they will, because we think it’s going to be awesome….) There will be a greeter, and you will never be out of view of one of the cast members. The asylum portion should take about 15-18 minutes to walk thru. Aven showed us the plans they had for an elevator, as well as some of the various props. It is absolutely amazing what these talented young men were able to construct from duct tape, paper towels, PVC pipe, foam, etc…. So many of these props looked awesome in working light, I can hardly imagine what they will look like in the finished product! There will also be a blood pool as seen in “The House on Haunted Hill.”
Now just as a tip, and this is the only one I will give you…. They ask you NOT to touch the props on your walk thru. Don’t! You never know what you will find covered in Vaseline, slime, or anything else that feels pretty nasty. Of course, there will be those of you that will do it anyway, but you were warned!!
We moved on past the Alien Invasion where Aven ran thru their intent for that house, onto the 3D portion, CarnEvil, where miniature clowns beckon you to step around the corner to the next dark corridor, and where Aven and his crew ever so gently remind you, “Don’t fall asleep, or the clowns will eat you.” Again, the effects were great; we can hardly wait to see the finished product.

It was at this part of our tour that we met Phil, and managed to round up the guys for a group shot of this most talented crew.
We asked Aven if he had heard of the changes Universal would be making to Halloween Horror Nights. The press had contacted him, wanting to know how he intended to proceed in the aftermath of the Trade Center tragedy. He explained there would be no changes. When the reporter pressed further, asking if the “cemetery scenes” common in most haunted attractions would be removed, he countered with “Is Santa Clause going to dump his sleigh because it flies?” Good point.
We moved on to safety issues. Fire drills have been conducted, and, “Each cast member knows where the nearest exit is.” They had even gone as far as hiring a safety consultant to visit the site and go over various issues with the employees.
As well as being concerned with his guest’s safety, Haunted Industries has also insured their house is handi-friendly, with all areas wheelchair accessible.
We have no doubt that this will prove to be one of the local Halloween places to be this year. With a team as talented as Haunted Industries and, being managed on site by Tim Shober (who is just one of the guys I mentioned earlier, that REALLY gets into his job!!) it is certain to be a great time. Please, visit, and tell them we sent you!
