2001 - Halloween Horror Nights - Rumors -

(9/23/01)Well kids here's some of the bad news I had a feeling that was coming our way this year do to the state of the world at the moment. HHN is going to be "tamed down" this year after all that has happened. From what I have heard (from very good sources)

Here are some of the down grades in our fun
1) There will be NO blood or gore.
2) The "Festival of the Dead" parade is being re-named to the "Nightmares on Parade".
3) Slasher alley is now Nightmare Alley.
4) The other scare area (cant remember the name) is now The Unknown.
5) Bloodbath is now The Ooze Zone.
6) EyeGore's traveling autopsy got canned.
7) Some of the houses may be re-named.
8) The staffing of the houses may be cut back.

It's a sad day when something like HHN (one of the greatest American freedoms) has to be dumbed down because it's the "politically correct" thing to do... yes, we all mourn who and what we have all lost, but as Americens we are stonge and do not need to be coddled in any way . It is my personal belief that those who are this overly sensitive, would not, or should not be attending this type of entertainment to begin with.

(9/11/01)Spoiler- Every Horror Night will begin with a thing called the "Opening Scaremonies." This is were the park will open before 7 pm at around 6:45, and the crowd will be cattle called on to an empty and blocked off Hollywood Blvd. With no scareacter in sight a stilt walking Freak will come out and say a speach to open the night. Then all of sudden a blast of pyro will single through the air and startle the guest. Then all of a sudden exactly "80" scaracters will pop out from hiding and ambush the crowd from the front, behind, and the side. Then total chaos will begin as they chase the crowd in fear. If this is done right, this will be a total suprise and a shock to see 80 scaracters suround the crowd. End Spoiler.

The Bill and Ted Show will be called "Bill and Ted's Excellent Halloween Adventure 2001: An Excellent Odyssey.

The Festival of the Dead Parades theme will be the occult. Like blair witch artifacts and snake dancers. The music to the parade will be tribal.

The Blood Bath will only be open on Friday and Saturday nights ONLY! And there will be scaracters in Kong leading up to the Brooklyin Bridige that will be full of Foam underneath and a DJ and Strobe lights.

The Chainsaw Drill Team will be men only, and be fresh from Boo Camp large and Muscular, and will march in lines saying things like 1-2-3-4 I want to see Gore! They will then use military tactecs to scare their victims.

Freaks- will be professional freacks. Meaning pro sword swallowers, fire breathers, guys who can bend all their joints, and of course the world famous Rat Lady back by popular demand being carried around in a full see through coffin.

Run- The whole maze is chain link fence and you can see all the way to the exit from the entrance. One problem though, the cast members who constructed the Maze says its so confuson that they even got lost in it when they were building it. And thats in Brod Day Light. This maze is full of Dead Ends, and it wont help wen the maze is pumped with smoke. The Scaracters will be armed with water guns, Baseball Bats, Garbage can lids, psi air blowers, and a cattle prod. The cattle prod will be scraped across the fence to make sparks. While the baseball bats and Trash lids will be wacked and draged across the fence to make loud startling sounds.

Pitch Black- The whole maze will be in the Dark and guest will have to touch and feel their ways through. One room will be the hair room filled with hair, one room will have Vasiline spread across the walls for a gooy effect. And there will be plenty of wet things hanging from the ceiling to get in peoples faces. One thing to note there will be no hot rooms, because it costs to much to keep heat on all the time and its a fire hazard. But Most of the Maze will be in ice cold tempatures.

Superstitions- This maze will have a ladder room, a Black Cat Room with a scaracter whose been clawed to death, a crack room where if you step on a crack you break your moms back, and a wierd room called a watermelon room were the superstion says if you eat a seed the watermelon will grow in your stomach. This room will have a dummy with his stomach blown apart because of a over grown melon.

Terrorland- Characters- Mad Hater ( the Hater went mad and killed all of his tea party guest, now he wants more killings), Queen of Hearts ( a room will hundreds of decapitated heads will lead you to the queen ready to take your head), Big Bad Wolf ( in Grandma's House some thing is waiting to jump out from underneath Grandma's covers with Big Teeth), Pinochio ( in a room filled with deformed dolls like from Toy Story, one chucky like doll made out of Wood is alive and is looking for some play mates to play with), and many more.

Also Eye Gore will be running the Were not going to Take IT Monster Truck called the Tetanus Shot looking for victims from the crowd to per form autopsy's on.

The Mummy Que will be in the Earthquake line, while the Run Line will be behind Beetlejuice in the back stage area were it always is. The Halloween Horror Nights in progress walls are set up in the ally ways of New York getting Supersitions ready. The left house in Soundstage 22 has something interesting, you see I guess the soundstage is not big enough to handle the whole house because I see a wooden hallway extention has been built spewing out of the house. One more thing to note, Eddie Buildbords are curently poping up all over the Orlando area. There is one going I-4 West bound before you get to Universal. And another one next to Dr. Phillips High School. Also I learned that the first Halloween Horror Night Comercial staring Eddie will be taped after the Park closes today (9-11-01) at the Studios. A Pepsi Comercial will also be shot but I am not sure when.

(8/31/2001) HHN XI Details!! The official word had been put on the Universal Passholder website and it seems most of our info was right on the money. Below is the mix of what they are telling us and what we have heard. The Dates for the 11th Annual event will be October 5-7, 11-13, 17-21, 25-28, 30-31 and November 2-3, starting each night at 7pm. There will be five mazes this year: The Mummy Returns: Temple of Terror - Based on the hit film franchise. Superstitions - A maze full of monster legends and bad luck items. Terrorland - A dark fairy tale maze themed like a dark ride gone wrong with twisted references to classic tales lke Pinocchio, Red Riding Hood, Alice in Wonderland, etc... Pitch Black - A very tactile experience: carpeted walls covered in slime, cobwebs, puffy walls and inflatable objects, hot rooms, cold rooms, wet rooms, furry objects, hard floors, soft floors, bouncy floors... all in Pitch Black. Run - A new idea where they will encourage you to do just that... RUN! Everything will be visible and the walls will be chainlink fences, netting and mirrors. Lots of smoke, loud noises and strobe lights will be everywhere to disorient you while you run from the “heavily padded” scaractors who “encourage you” to get out of the maze while tripping switches that activate revolving and sliding wall sections to separate you from the rest of your party. Bill and Ted will be back once again in their wildest most excellent adventure yet. We’ve seen the guest list in progress for this one and while everyone has yet to RSVP, it should include: Michelle and Jim from American Pie, The Grinch, Pootie Tang, Shreck, Mr. Tinkles (Cats & Dogs), Gigolo Joe (AI), Thade (Planet of the Apes), Shorty and Ray from Scary Movie 2, The Scorpion King, Imhotep, and Anksunamun (Mummy Returns), Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, Jenfer Lopez, Janet Jackson, and Laura Croft. The Animal Planet theater will present Deadly D’Illusions by Franz Harary. A vegas style magical act. This guy is known for using a lot of pyro/flame effects in his shows it seems, so this could be really good. Joining the traditional Festival of the Dead parade will be the Bloodbath Underground Fright Club on select nights where it seems they will turn the Kong soundstage into a major dance party. Of course, all the monsters and chainsaw maniacs you can ever want will always be present to scare to over to the other side in three giant scare zones: Dead Zone, Slasher Alley, and Midway of the Bizare. Our host this year will be Eddie, Jack’s younger brother. “No matter where you turn, no matter where you run...he sees you. And this year, there's No More Clowning Around.”

(8/20/2001)*This came from one of our HHN spies. One of the rumors circulating around here is that the KONG maze will not really be a maze. The first half will be set up much like last year, but at the "Bridge Kong" (Where all the fog was last year) there will be essentially a rave/dance club. Another rumor is that "Eddie" (although I havn't heard that particular name) is actually Jack's son coming back for revenge. One "Fact" is that there will be no female chainsaw team members this year, and the audition notice specifically referred to them as the "Chainsaw Team" as opposed to the "Chainsaw Drill Team" as in the past.

The dark fairy tale maze will be called Terrorland and feature references to other classic tales such as Pinocchio and Red Riding Hood in addition to Alice In Wonderland. The latest info on Pitch Black is that it will be a very tactile experience: carpeted walls covered in slime, cob webs, inflatable objects and walls, hot rooms, cold rooms, wet rooms, furry objects, hard floors, soft floors, bouncy floors... all in Pitch Black. The latest word on Edgar (or Eddie) is that it seems that this is someone Jack killed back in the circus and has come back for revenge. "No More Clowning Around!" was mentioned as the latest tag line Marketing is throwing around, and we'll see this new fellow leading the Chain Saw Drill Team. Screamscape was also able to confirm the presence of the Illusionist Franz Harary at the park recently and Harary's own website http://www.harary.com lists an Orlando Tour Date from Oct 1st to Nov. 4th. Sounds like this may be a very good show you wont want to miss.

(8/9/2001) We've got more info and some corrections to the below info this time around. It seems the script and cast list Bill & Ted isn't final... and some changes are still being made. It seems Josey & The Pussycats have already been dumped from show. We've also heard the name "Edgar" for the new clown/host this year, who may co-host the event with Jack. In the Animal Planet theater it seems they will bring in Vegas style Illusionist "Franz Harary". Other park entertainment will include a strolling "Igor's Autopsy Show". Now on to the mazes: The Earthquake queue area will feature: Run and Mummy Returns. The Mummy maze will be just what you might expect, ending with the Pygmy Forest scene. Run sounds like a new idea all together where they will encourage you to do just that... RUN! Everything will be visible and the walls will be chainlink fences, netting and mirrors. Lots of smoke, loud noises and strobe lights will be everywhere to disorient you while you run from the "heavily padded" scaractors who "encourage you" to get out of the maze while tripping switches that activate revolving and sliding wall sections to separate you from the rest of your party. We have names for three more mazes now: Pitch Black (A very dark maze), Superstition (full of monster legends and bad luck items), and the final maze is said to look like an abandoned dark ride based on Alice In Wonderland, complete with twisted broken track and overturned vehicles before you encounter the twisted fairy tail creatures. The maze in Kong may be out, in instead on Friday and Saturdays, we've been told to expect a "foam party" type area under the river bridge section called Blood Bath. (8/6/2001) The latest rumor claims that while Jack will not return this year, a relative of his will. We've been told to expect giant evil clown eyes to pop up on billboards all over Orlando sometime in September. We also have recieved a full list of characters we can expect to see at this year's Bill & Ted show: Josie and the Pussycats, Michelle and Jim from American Pie, The Grinch, Pootie Tang, Shreck, Mr. Tinkles (Cats & Dogs) Gigolo Joe (AI) Thade (Planet of the Apes) Hanson, Shorty, and Ray from Scary Movie 2, The Scorpion King, Imhotep, and Anksunamun (Mummy Returns) Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, Jenfer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Laura Croft and Pink, Mya, Lil Kim, and Christina Aguilera singing Moulan Rogue. Phew... you got all that?

(8/3/2001) The latest rumors about this year's HHN event is that "Jack" may return once again along with the theme "No Clowning Around" and that the event may stretch to November 4th. The Mummy Returns is still being tossed around as a likely maze as well as a new one called Pitch Black. Jaws will not be themed for this year's event, but Kong will return. You can also expect another parade (as normal) as well as some kind of new show in the Animal Planet Live stadium. Bill and Ted will also return this year to poke fun at American Pie, Planet of the Apes, Josey and the Pussycats, and much much more.
