| Recently
we had the pleasure of catching up with Matt Galbraith, a great
new friend to HauntFreaks.com (responsible for our pre 9/11 flyer)
and who has the greatest collection of Universal Studio’s
"Halloween Horror Nights"
memorabilia that we know of.
(and
we’re jealous!!)
HF:Matt
If you don’t mind what's your age?
Matt: 17
HF: How many years have you been to HHN?
Matt: 5
HF: Which years have you attended?
Matt: 1996,1998,1999,2000,2001(I missed 1997 because my twin sisters
were born in November and my mom was pregnant with them, so she
couldn’t take me).
HF: What was your favorite theme?
Matt: I liked the 1994 theme with the skull under the arch. Also,
I liked the 1998 and 1999 logos.
HF: What was your favorite houses from any
of the HHN events?
Matt: Frightanic, Pitch Black, and Scary Tales.
HF: How many HHN items do you currently possess?
Matt: Over 200, too much stuff to count
HF: Can you do a little "inventory" of your items?
Matt: Around 30 shirts, Signs, Posters, coins, cups, glasses, rare
maps, flyers, laminated ID Tags, rare buttons and magnets, newspaper
pullouts. I have a toy chainsaw that I believe there is only one
of, because it’s supposed to be part of a press kit for the
year 2000. A press kit for 1995 with rare full sized pictures, and
tons of other random things.
HF: What is your favorite piece?
Matt: Believe it or not, my favorite thing I own is a coin from
1998(the screaming face) where I drilled small holes in the eyes
and I put in little blinking lights in for the eyes and when you
push a button his eyes light and blink red. It turned out perfect
and it looks like an actual item that was sold at HHN, but I’m
the only one who has one =)
HF: What is the largest amount of money you
have spent on one item?
Matt: I have never spent over 25 dollars on any one item, although
I have spent a lot at the event on shirts and glasses, ashtrays
and stuff like that, never more than 25 on 1 particular item.
HF: What is the cheapest thing you lucked
out on?
Matt: My dad found 2 signs from 1998, and 1996, (measuring 41"x28"
each) at a flea market and he paid the guy $2.50 a piece for them.
I have another of these signs from 1995, but I paid $15 for it.
Also, He found a 1992 shirt, never worn, at a flea market for $2.00
HF: Where do you find your items?
Matt: Flea markets, I buy every souvenir offered at every HHN I
go to,
(I started doing this in 2000), and people at school have given
me like coins and things that they have and don’t care about.
HF: Do your friends share your HHN enthusiasm,
or are you the freak of the group (nothing to be ashamed of...)?
Matt: I have never met anyone who likes it as much as me, and my
friends know I like it, just not how much. (sorry Matt… they
might now!)
HF: Your favorite horror movie?
Matt: Umm this is a hard one, I liked Creepshow, Campfire Tales,
Cat's eye, and Twists of Terror.
HF: Scariest movie you ever saw?
Matt: I’d have to say Campfire Tales
HF: What do you think of the move to IOA?
Matt: When I first heard it, I was really upset, but the closer
it gets, I’m actually liking the idea.
Matt, thanks
for your time and for talking to us… for any of you that want
to discuss HHN with Matt, he welcomes the opportunity to discuss
it with you. He can be reached @ MoShTaMpA@aol.com.
