We visited Skull Kingdom on our first night in Florida this year. A great presence from the outside, how could you NOT want to see what was inside of the skull shaped building (with the glowing red eyes)?
Upon entering the building, Vince, Brian and I were greeted by “Dead Man Sydney,” perhaps the most amusing dead man you will ever meet. Delivering Woody Allen deadpan humor, he had us in stitches while we waited for a few more people to begin the tour.
We were led into a room where we formed a sort of circle and were greeted by our “tour guide” whom we would later learn was “Callous.” Another extremely talented crew member, and to our surprise, he was fairly new to this position within the attraction.
We were led thru the traditional dark hallways, the house imbued with scenes of horror as well as live actors; however, a larger staff would have been far more effective in this interesting house. The scare potential was certainly there. There were many extremely well done sets, including an alien theme that completely captured the feeling of being trapped in an HR Giger painting.

Before leaving, we spoke to George, the manager. Not a very chatty fellow, which was unfortunate for me as I was a little tired from the trip (travelling with Brian is usually fun but always exhausting), and I was not as chatty as normal, so the interview did not go as well as I would have liked.
We had the misfortune of visiting on a slow night when they were operating on a reduced staff.

Since the press, in their effort to bring about a “kinder, gentler nation,” had been hell bent on doing away with Halloween post 9/11, we asked if business had slowed. On the contrary, he said, “business had increased”. People were looking to be entertained.

They planned to have a Blair Witch theme in effect by Halloween, and planned going forward to alter themes on a 4 month basis, almost a necessity for a year round operation.

On a postscript, we have recently caught a new video clip advertisement for this establishment that seems quite interesting. I can only hope that this signals that they have indeed brought on a larger staff and we look forward to reviewing this haunt once again this Halloween season.
